Crystal & Austin: 13 Years A Charm

Sometimes, everything just falls into place like they were always meant to be; this is the story of Crystal and Austin’s back yard wedding, which just happened to be on their anniversary of spending 13 years together.

Over the water in Maryland, Crystal was scrolling through her social media when suddenly ‘Melinoe’ appeared before her eyes. Crystal knew at that moment that ‘Melinoe’ was to be her wedding dress, even before she was engaged.

Fast forward to the engagement, the adventure was about to begin. With over 3.5k miles between home and ‘Melinoe’, Crystal emailed us to find out if we could make her wedding dress dreams come true. Now, it is always very exciting when we hear from international brides, the reality that our alternative independent brand from a sleepy village in Lancashire can reach so far across the water is completely heartwarming and we love sending our dresses on long journeys to find their bride.

This time was a little different, Crystal wanted to visit us in our studio! We were absolutely blown away and of course we worked closely with Crystal to accommodate her travel plans. The moment had arrived, Crystal was here in our studio and about to try on the dress of her dreams. As if by magic, ‘Melinoe’ fit perfectly, like it was always meant to be and Crystal was so in love that we packaged up the dress and Crystal took it away with her at that very same appointment.

Time for the day Crystal and Austin had been waiting for; it was a very hot July day and preparations for the ceremony were well underway! Crystal admits that the only thing she had really planned was her dress, and everything else would just fall into place. The ceremony and reception were to be held in their own back yard, decorated with ornaments which Crystal brought out of their home along with some pieces she bought from other indie brands on Etsy.

Crystal and Austin were married by Reverend D who wrote their ceremony and kept it secret, only to be revealed at the time of the marriage! They were married under a steel coffin arch which Crystal and her Grandfather welded together, and the flowers were all freshly cut from her Grandparents garden.

We are so honoured to have played such a huge part in Crystal and Austin’s back yard cemetery themed wedding and we wish them thirteen and many more incredible years together.
